Sherborn History Center Construction Project Update
Beginning in 2020, the Sherborn Historical Society (SHS) and Library Board of Trustees began working on plans to have a Sherborn History Center (SHC) housed in the Library. The Town voted in the April 2025 Annual Town Meeting to financially support retrofitting 1,900 square feet of the Library’s unfinished basement. The SHC also raised over $600,000 in private donations to support this project, in addition to the $600,000 committed from the Town. No Library funds are being used for this project.
The Town continues to work with TSKP x IKD, a New England based architectural and planning firm with extensive museum and library experience. Plans were put out to bid in late 2025 and a few weeks ago the bid was awarded to TCD of Peterborough, New Hampshire.
Construction on the History Center began in early April. We will continue to update the public as construction progresses.
The SHS and Library have worked closely together on managing activities during construction, and with the location in the unfinished basement, the Library believes it will have little impact on the daily operations of the Library. All parties involved are committed to keeping disruption to Library services to a minimum.
