The Sherborn Library is starting a seed library.  Much like a lending library for books, seed libraries allow patrons to freely "check out" seeds to plant in their home gardens. After the seed germinates and is harvested, a couple of plants are left in the ground to go to seed. The saved seed is then returned to the library—ideally in more abundance than what was borrowed. The benefits are many: people can try seeds for free, try new varieties, meet other gardeners in the community, and communities are able to create their own seed reserves of unique, locally adapted varieties. Please bring your seeds to the library to help get us started today! See the Tower Hill Botanic Garden website for a great overview of the benefits and locations of seed libraries.
